It's All In The Detail

February 6, 2018 Maxine Greer
Going Knots

Taking a break from tying tiny knots in my small sculptures, I head out for a wander through Stamford to clear my mind.  As Ray Charles would sing 'Baby it's cold outside'! The lunchtime traffic sweeps past to my right and to my left a small landscape, luscious and glistening.

A Micro World

I see hints of spring growth about me on the tops of stone walls. Vibrant new greens and fresh pin-like shoots prick the air, a delight to see. What's keeping you warm this cold day?

Drawing out in the landscape with Kombisketchtour (mobile artist studio) I am attracted to examining what's within the hedgerow or at my feet rather than what's on the horizon. Spending time focussing on the detail or the micro within an environment, the textures, atmosphere, sounds, colours and scent can inform a new sculpture.

"Wintersweet" continues to develop as the buds are beginning to burst about us.  Stay tuned for updates.
