A Welcome Walk

May 10, 2021 Maxine Greer

From Daniell Road, Truro, cross the main road through the gate into a field, walk around the edge following the desire line, head towards a pair of twisted Oaks opposite.

Oaks and Blackthorn

The Oaks frame the view.  I am at the top of a steep hill, at the bottom is the Old Newham Railway track. This is where I am heading for an hour a day.  This is March 2020.

Pausing to take in the now familiar corner of the opposite field, I watch the long tree shadows move across the green fields.  This is July 2020

Rain clouds gather in the distance turning the sky purple. I sit whilst dogs sniff out the land and the “Hi’s” to their owners.  This is November 2020.

A Welcome Walk a chance to reset, to take a breath and note down the passing of time this is March 2021.

Time-Lapse

The ‘walk’ drawings gathered over the year will be on show at the Royal Cornwall Museum from the 17th May 2021 as part of Time-Lapse. An exhibition of 9 artists and makers from Cornwall and Devon exploring creativity during the pandemic.
