Drawing The Fruits Of The Season. A Late Summer Feast For Your Eyes.

August 21, 2018 Maxine Greer
Rosehip Sketch

Rosehip Sketch

For an indicator that the season is changing I look towards the hedgerows.  Hips and Haws are beginning to ripen, early blackberries are glistening and the dark fruits of the Elderfower drape invitingly.  The green is beginning to re-emerge after the scorching summer.  I too am beginning to re-emerge dipping back into the landscape to draw.  As a kick start to August it was lovely to have my 'Rosehips' drawing featured on the cover of Nene Living magazine. I can officially say I'm a cover girl! Umm...

Time appears to stand still over the summer with days stretching out and the warm sunshine encouraging a slower pace.  Sketching 'en plein air' has been tricky and I welcome the shift in the season and the change in temperature.  With so much fruit around it's now time to gather them up through sketching.

Fruity Cards On Line

As part of this season's bounty I am launching a few cards available through my shop.  Each card design is taken from sketches made in the landscape around Stamford, Lincolnshire.  I am partial to popping into the allotment behind where I live to see what is ripening in the margins.  To see this season's fruity cards click here I would love to know what you think.

I will be adding to the shop on a regular basis with new art works so please keep posted. Now off to check out those blackberries!
